The Kittywire is a European LGBTQ+ audience focused, smaller, cosier testing instance for a potential switch of gears in the context of Kittywire Social.

Branding

The Kittywire mascot (also named Kittywire) was made by Riedler and is under CC-BY-SA 4.0 International.

The Kittywire font is Alatsi, under the Open Font License.

Hosting location

The Kittywire is mainly hosted in France, with backups stored in Germany.

Our infrastructure will be documented on https://docs.kittywi.re. Until then, here's a sum up of what is being used and
what will be used to maintain this Mastodon instance's infrastructure.

System administration

System administration is managed by Miaoute.

Physical Kittywire infrastructure

  • Domain: OVH
  • Main Kittywire server: PulseHeberg PERF-8
  • Intel Xeon E5-2637v4 (4 vCores @ 3.5 Ghz), 8 GB of DDR4 RAM, 80 GB of SSD storage

Future plans

Content retention

Media is kept for 7 days, user archives are kept for 7 days, content cache is kept for 10 days.

Log retention

Logs are erased every 14 days.

Funding

Operational costs of the free suite of Kittywire services is around 300 euros yearly. It is entirely paid out of pocket by donations made to maintaining said services as well as membership fees and other donations to Miaoute.

The federation instance moderation list is based on CatCatNya's blocklist, with some slight local adjustments. It will not be made public to anyone other than the Kittywire Social users.
