Instance-specific rules Content Warning Policy CW'ing of food is not required! Any post made on the instance without a CW will have the CW "auto cw: could contain food" when it federates. However, the post will appear non-CW'd on this instance itself. This allows us to not have to CW and click through every post, while still protecting folks on other instances who wish to have food content behind a CW. However, cursed food (i.e. food posts that are meant as humor and would probably be considered gross) must be CW'd. CW'ing of meat or non-vegan content is recommended. Cocktails/homebrewing are incredibly valid forms of cooking too! However, please CW alcohol-related content appropriately. Other Instance-specific policies. The best way to cook, bake, eat or otherwise enjoy something is the way that specific person enjoys it. That is, gatekeeping will not be tolerated. This instance is for folks who cook/bake/etc. of all skill levels! Do not disparage beginners. Be respectful and helpful. Do not use any method of crossposting from Twitter or other social networks to Too Many Cooks. Signups are approval-only. This is to prevent spam. If applicable, please mention any other fedi account you might consider your "main" to make approvals easier. All around rules No advertising or excessive promotion. No bots without prior approval. No pornography. No gore or graphic violence. Food preparation involving raw meat could be considered an exception to this. Always CW content of this kind. Content that is NSFW or borderline NSFW must be put behind a CW. No racism, sexism, ableism, transphobia, nationalism, fascism, or sympathizing with or advocating for any of these things or related things. No Nazis or related symbolism. Respect boundaries. If someone asks you to stop interacting with them, stop. If someone blocks or mutes you, do not attempt to evade that action in any way. No stalking, harassment, dogpiling or any other action that is meant to intimidate anyone. Any other unethical content is disallowed and will be left to the discretion of the admin(s). Just don't be a dingus. Do not scrape any content from the web interface or API. Reporting It is best to err on the side of reporting content you think may be breaking rules. Reports will be kept anonymous. Do not, however, make bad-faith reports or spam reports on clearly non-rule-breaking posts. Feel free to report content that isn't on the instance itself, but that appears on the Federated timeline and would be considered breaking our rules. Federation policies We do not federate with overtly fascist instances or instances that associate with them. Feel free to let the admins know if you have a problem with this policy so they can defederate with you, too. Privacy Reminders This instance uses HTTPs everywhere thanks to Let's Encrypt. New users of the site are opted out of search engine indexing by default. Note that this relies on the search engine itself respecting this setting, so it's not foolproof. No ads, trackers or analytics of any kind are used on Too Many Cooks. Understand that this instance admins have access to all data submitted to, and all data that federates with this site. Data is not encrypted, this includes followers-only and DM posts. Media Storage This isn't so much a rules section as it is thanking Jortage for providing the media storage for the instance! This instance's media is powered by Jortage Storage Pool ΓÇö lightning-fast pay-what-you-can media storage for Fediverse instances Moderated servers Mastodon generally allows you to view content from and interact with users from any other server in the fediverse.
